Ovulation Induction
Women may have problems with ovulation that prevent them from becoming pregnant. This problem may be treated with either pills or injections that stimulate the ovaries thus increasing the possibility of ovulation and pregnancy.

Medical and Surgical Treatment for Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a condition in which endometrial tissue, the uterine lining, is found outside the uterus, most often on the ovaries or the interior walls of the pelvic cavity. Endometriosis can inhibit a woman’s ability to become pregnant, but there are a number of options available to treat endometriosis including medicines, laparoscopic surgery, and general surgery. The physicians at IU Women's Healthcare will work with you determine the best method for treating your endometriosis.

Artificial Insemination
Artificial insemination is a process by which either the husband’s sperm or donor sperm is placed in a woman’s uterus in order to assist a couple in fertilization. Artificial insemination is used when a husband has low sperm count or poor sperm motility or a woman has poor cervical mucus.

In Vitro Fertilization with Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
With in vitro fertilization, a couple’s sperm and eggs are harvested, and the eggs are fertilized outside the body in a lab dish. If sperm motility is poor to absent, the sperm may be injected directly into the eggs. Once fertilized, the embryos transferred to the woman’s uterus. Successful implantation may occur in up to 50% of cases but the results vary markedly depending on the age of the couple, the previous pregnancy history and the quality of the embryos to be transferred.

Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer (Gift)
GIFT is a modification of in vitro fertilization. With GIFT, sperm and eggs are harvested from both partners. The eggs and sperm are then placed inside the woman’s fallopian tubes during laparoscopic surgery, and fertilization actually takes place in the woman’s body.

Tubal Ligation Reversal
Many women have a tubal ligation when they believe that they are finished having children. If a woman then decides that she would like to have another child, the tubal ligation can be reversed. At IU Women's Healthcare a specialist physician who has been trained to perform tubal ligation can help you to evaluate the benefits and drawbacks of reversing your tubal ligation. Upon evaluation, you may decide undergo a procedure that will provide you with the possibility to once again have children.
